The Ethiopian National Defence Forces (ENDF) have withdrawn from several eastern Tigray areas near the Eritrean border, allowing Eritrean forces to occupy more territory, including the border town of Zalanbesa. Eritrean troops are now stationed 30 kilometers from Adigrat, northern Tigray's largest town. Additionally, four of the eight kebelles (Sub districts) in the Irob woreda, home to the minority Irob community, are fully under Eritrean control.
